Last pre-release: 4.0.4rc1
The final/official release is scheduled for the first half of next week – unless unexpected problems/errors are detected. We would like to get feedback on clean installations and updates (and any problems you encountered). We will use the next days to get the history.txt and the release notes ready – if you can spot things that we forgot to mention in History.txt, feel free to help us fill in those blanks. :)
Known Problems:
- The Opera+funny character problem on “content > comments” will be fixed for final in some way (also see my last comment in the previous thread).
- The version number in this rc still shows 4.0.3 – this is intentional.
If you are hesitant about updating a live site, that’s fine, wait a few more days for the official release. ;)

Forum-Thread: Last pre-release: 4.0.4rc1

Thank you guys! I was one of those people itching for a new release. Do the txp templates need to be updated to support 4.0.4? Maybe a new competition could get planned after the final release is out. Cheers!

Is it really too much to ask for a link to the list of changes? I have just posted an article on performancing.com about the coming update but I can’t find a public history.txt or something like that.

Wow. Amazing list that fixes every single problem I had!

In general no, there is one small change that may be in necessary in rare circumstances. It’s covered in the FAQ: http://textpattern.com/faq/?c=Releases-404
Please read my announcement. We are in the process of writing exactly that currently. They will be ready with the release, for deciding whether to help us test a release candidate it shouldn’t make a difference. (The list posted is included in the download for those people that are testing it).

Given the feedback we’ve received it’ll probably a few more days, before we get around to the release. So it won’t happen “first half of this week” as I guessed.

Great news! Wow, this update adds a lot of features I was looking for. Thanks for the hard work everyone.

I realize this is a feature request, and not a bug, but could there be a way in txp:category_list to output the categories in tree form? A ul list, but with child categories in a nested ul. Maybe there’s a plugin for this somewhere…

I am very happy about that list :-)
Looking forward to final …
@Sencer + funtoosh: Thanks for helping!
I understand! But to actively promote the coming 4.0.4 a list of changes for willing bloggers (like I am) is pretty useful. ‘Marketing’, you know?
Check out: Textpattern 4.0.4 is on its way
