A gentle reminder to those still running old versions of Textpattern: every major release has included at least one important security fix.
If you’re not already running the current version of Textpattern (4.0.5), you should upgrade as soon as possible — particularly if you are still running a very old version.
Alex,
I upgraded all my sites the day 4.0.4 was released.
What has me perplexed is what is keeping sites that are linked to from the Textpattern home page’s Resources side heading from upgrading themselves.

Thx for reminder… It’s not easy to upgrade all 20 sites with TXP core ;) I’m working on…

It’s a little frustrating that important security fixes are bundled with non-essential improvements and additions. It’s hard for me to find the time to do the necessary planning, testing, and (hopefully not, but possibly) reverting.
I realize that TXP dev resources are limited, but putting security fixes in 4.0.4 and non-essential changes in some hypothetical version like 4.1.0 would make life easier for a subset of your users.

Ben,
4.0.4 does include an unusually high number of bugfixes and other improvements. However, like all 4.0.x releases, it’s been carefully tested to maintain backwards compatibility and minimize upgrade problems. A few system-specific issues aside, we’ve achieved that.
It’s likely there’ll be a 4.0.5 release soon. And it’s unlikely you’ll see any more big changes in the 4.0.x branch.
