Textpattern and WAMP

There is a bug in PHP when used together with Apache 1.3.x (on Windows) that can crash Apache during installation of Textpattern and when viewing the diagnostics page in the Textpattern admin-panel.

If you are using bundled distributions like WAMPServer you may have problems with the current version. XAMPP users are are not affected because XAMPP uses different versions of PHP and Apache.

Thanks to the forum-user dsiem who made us aware of this fact.

  1. I’m using WAMPServer 5 v1.4.3 with no problems there AFAIK. This is with the PHP 4 extension installed.

    Other info:
    Apache version : Apache/1.3.33 (Win32)
    PHP version : 4.3.10
    MySQL version : 4.1.8-nt-log – extension : mysql

  2. Yes, the bug report on php.net indicates that this is a PHP5 problem (and even there only on some versions) together with Apache1.3.x.
