Textpattern moves to Git and GitHub

We will switch from Subversion to Git as our SCM, and move Textpattern’s official repository to GitHub at the same time.

We will develop Textpattern CMS version 4.6+ with the help of GitHub’s code hosting from now on, and retire the previously used development branch on Google Code.

Issue queue

GitHub provides us with both code hosting and their tool to manage issues and reports. We will recreate all existing issues at GitHub, and inevitably cause a stream of issue creation notifications spamming the inboxes of anybody watching the repository. Apologies for that, but there’s nothing we can do about it.

Textpattern CMS 4.5 considerations

Textpattern CMS 4.5 is the current stable version. This version will continue to receive minor updates, fixes and corrections. Due to some deeply ingrained dependencies on Subversion we will keep Textpattern CMS 4.5 on Google Code and use Subversion for all further patch releases.

Feedback

Textpattern and Subversion were tightly coupled for the past decade. We are aware that this switch might affect some third-party processes and tools. Please use this feedback thread on the user forum to convey your thoughts.
